...and welcome to the Naturally Chiropractic November newsletter
10 years old...
but who's counting?
We are! It's been a truly amazing decade for us at Naturally Chiropractic.
It was 10 years ago that Estelle took over the practice and it has been exciting and fun ever since!

Over that time, we have doubled the size of our lovely offices; we have met many new clients and continued the care of some of our original ones. A lot of amazing people have passed through our doors, including several members of our team, but everyone remains in our hearts.

To celebrate this special event, there will be a treat for everyone who books an adjustment on Monday, November 17 or Tuesday, November 18. A special thanks from us to you.
Toys for Adjustment! Wednesday, 3rd December
For our 10th Annual Toys for Adjustment Day, we will again be supporting the North Shields branch of the Salvation Army – plus, this year, we are adding a food drive for the Trussel Trust. Clients who have an appointment scheduled on December 3, will have their usual fee waived in exchange for a toy or a non-perishable food item. Donated toys or books need to be new, unwrapped, and suitable for a child under the age of 16. Foods should be tinned or suitable for long-term storage.

If you do not have an appointment that day and would still like to donate, feel free to drop your item in to the clinic during our normal opening hours.
Thank you for your time and generosity.

Thank you!
Celebration cakes

We all love a cake when it comes to a special event. For those of you following special diets it can be hard to find a substitute for traditional recipes, but here is Estelle's current favourite.

This recipe is a little heavy on the sugar, and it takes some preparation, but the result is stunning, making it perfect for an occasional treat.

Mandarin almond cake

Main ingredients...
3 mandarins
1 cup caster sugar
6 eggs
2 cups ground almonds
To serve…
1/4 cup superfine caster sugar
zest of 2 oranges
whipped cream (or coconut cream)

Put the mandarins in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 2 hours, adding water when necessary to keep the mandarins covered at all times. Or you could put them in the slow cooker overnight.

Preheat the oven to 160ºC. Drain the mandarins and cool to room temperature, split them open and remove any seeds. Puree the mandarins, including the skins, in a food processor.

Whisk the sugar and eggs together in a large bowl until combined. Add the ground almonds and mandarin puree and stir thoroughly. Pour into a well greased 24cm springform cake tin and bake for 1hr 10 min, or until the cake looks set in the middle, springs back when touched and comes away from the edges. Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the tin.

While the cake is cooling, put the caster sugar and 60ml water over a low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the orange zest and boil the mixture until it just starts to caramelise, then lift the zest out with a fork and cool it on a plate. Serve the cake with lightly whipped cream and the caramelised zest.
