Helping you EAT, MOVE and THINK your way to better health
Sunny days outdoors, walks on the beach or playing games are an excellent excuse to indulge an ice cream. If you're out and about, it's tempting to buy one but making your own means you can have a treat that is healthier and with less sugar. Try this recipe...

It’s that time of year again... the sunshine has hit and we worry about how long it's going to last. All those jobs that need doing must be done. Right now. We are seeing a glut of gardening and DIY injuries at the moment, so apart from calling for an appointment ASAP with us, what should you do if you get into a pickle?

First, stick an ice pack on the hot and inflamed bit. If you have muscle spasm, heat will make it feel better until you try to move that inflamed joint. Ice first. We will tell you if heat is appropriate. Remember, when using ice, protect your skin. Wrap that pack up in a towel then place it over the hot bit for 15 minutes of so. If you are stuck in a position (on the floor or in a chair) get comfortable and have a willing helper bring you some ice. Once you have had it on for a while, try to get on to your hands and knees to get up or into a supported position. Then get moving. Gentle movement will stimulate your brain and nervous system.
Next, get in to see us as soon as you can. We know it hurts, but the sooner we can restore movement to your joints the better your body can heal itself and resolve all that inflammation. Healing takes time, but chiropractic adjustments have been shown to help you get moving faster than anything else out there (even painkillers).
Changes at the practice... __
Forgive us for not being in touch last month, but we were rather bogged down in updating our systems to comply with the new data protection laws. These are now in force. We hope you have – or can take – a few moments to read our privacy policies and do get in touch if you have any queries or concerns.
Cooling down: Blueberry and chocolate ice cream ...__
Pop a small punnet of blueberries into the freezer until they are completely frozen. Put them into a blender, add a ripe banana, a tablespoon of raw cacao and another of maple syrup. Blend until you have a creamy consistency then eat!
Tips: try sharing with someone! And you could adapt this by adding some coconut cream to make it more like a dairy ice cream.
